About the Role
As a Trainee Sonographer, you will be supported to complete your postgraduate ultrasound qualification while gaining hands-on experience within a busy and professional Radiology Department. Under the guidance of experienced Sonographers and Radiologists, you will assist in performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures, developing your scanning technique and clinical reasoning while upholding patient care and safety standards.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a motivated individual looking to grow their career in medical imaging. You will be part of a structured training programme, combining academic study with practical learning in a supportive and collaborative environment.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Radiology team is a skilled, multidisciplinary group of professionals who are passionate about teaching and excellence in patient care. The department provides a wide range of imaging services, including general ultrasound, vascular, obstetric, and musculoskeletal imaging.

About you
As Trainee sonographer you will be a pro-active and enthusiastic individual, who works well as part of a team, but can use your initiative and work independently when needed. You will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment and is eager to develop a high level of clinical expertise
We are looking for someone who is:
- Enrolled on the University of Auckland Postgraduate Diploma in Health sciences in Ultrasound
- Current professional registration with the MRTB as a trainee sonographer
- Has 2 years scanning experience
- A strong clinical and academic foundation
