Whitireia and WelTec have been strategic partners since 2012, delivering a range of career training choices and vast opportunities for schools, staff and students. 

We are a subsidiary of Te Pūkenga (New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology). As of 1 September 2022, WelTec will be assumed by Te Pūkenga and carried on as the Whitireia business division.

We are known for our distinctiveness (Ahureitanga) and we have special relationships with mana whenua WelTec with Te Ātiawa and Whitireia with Ngāti Toa. Together, we are more than the sum of our parts.

About the role - Te Kaupapa

An exciting opportunity has become available to join an industry leader in the field of Vocational Education and teach courses as part of a New Zealand Diploma in Construction Management (Quantity Survey Strand) and New Zealand Diploma in Architectural Technology. 

Some of the core elements of this position will include course delivery and management of resources relating to the learning processes. Teaching subject areas are architectural drafting and documentation and general topics in the built environment programmes.

WelTec is looking for someone who is keen to pass on their knowledge and has an enthusiasm for learning and education. This is a teaching focused position. Strong interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written are essential. 

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor degree in architecture or related field. Alternatively, Diploma in Architecture Technology with expensive work experience
  • Teaching qualification or teaching experience is desirable, but not essential

Experience:

  • Recent, relevant teaching experience, preferably within a tertiary teaching environment
  • Experienced in the use of electronic and on-line technologies in teaching is preferred
  • Architectural drawing and documentation experience in New Zealand. LBP Design holders are preferred

Personal qualities and key skills:

  • Clear, confident and skilled presenter
  • A customer focus with demonstrated ability to be both flexible and professional
  • Willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and strategies in instructional delivery
  • Demonstrated collegiality in an academic teaching and service environment
