About the role - Te kaupapa
Fixed-term, part-time position from January to November, 18.75 hours per week (0.5 FTE).
WelTec and Whitireia are looking to appoint an academic tutor within our Tūāpapa team. We are interested in applications from kaiako with teaching strengths in a range of foundational academic areas which include combinations of the following: mathematics, health science, academic communication that would enable them to teach within degree and subdegree programmes.
The ideal applicant will have the following skills and knowledge:
- Appropriate qualifications in the relevant subject area (mathematics, health science, academic communication)
- An understanding of teaching and learning with reference to te ao and te reo Māori
- Experience in teaching including online teaching and with young adults
- Relevant recent and successful adult teaching experience is desirable
- An ability to adapt teaching practices to meet the needs of a diverse range of students
- A student-centred focus and skills in relationship building with students and colleagues
- Ability and willingness to work effectively as part of dedicated teaching teams and members of the wider WelTec and Whitireia teams
- Exemplary communication skills
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt and problem-solve
The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to the development of teaching and assessment material for programmes and support students with the development of literacy and numeracy skills. The successful applicant will work across all our academic disciplines and work from all our campus locations.
