Registered Master Builders Association (RMBA) represents New Zealand’s premier building and construction companies. Their members have been building the foundations of New Zealand, its homes, and workplaces for over 100 years. They are the leading voice of the building and construction industry and collaborate with the sector and government to develop and uphold the highest standards.
RMBA stands for quality and backs their members with the support and services they need to build strong businesses and deliver value to clients. Their vision is to be New Zealand’s leading association in the construction sector for builders, customers, and Government, and their purpose is to support their members to build a better New Zealand.
RMBA is seeking two highly capable and experienced independent directors to join their board bringing additional commercial perspectives to complement existing sector expertise. These appointments offer the opportunity to contribute at a strategic level to a highly respected membership organisation operating in a dynamic sector that has significant impact on New Zealand’s future prosperity.
Role one calls for an agile thinker and future-focused leader who has the strategic capability to position an organisation to anticipate and respond to change. You will have a strong grasp of systems thinking, emerging trends and be comfortable challenging conventional thinking to drive growth.
Role two calls for a director with strong financial skills, not just in terms of governance and oversight but with a forward focus on identifying strategic opportunities to enhance performance and sustainability. You’ll bring a commercial mindset, strong experience in assessing commercial risk and the ability to contribute meaningfully to both audit and strategic conversations.
For both roles you will bring:
- Proven experience serving on boards and leading high-performance CEOs
- A solid understanding of governance principles
- Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking
- High personal integrity and sound judgement
- Excellent relationship and communication skills
- A clear understanding of risk in commercial environments.
The Board meets six times per year with additional commitments including two strategic planning days. These are typically held in Wellington, but applications are welcomed from around the country.
