We're looking for a dedicated and values-driven leader to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to managing a range of critical functions for the NZIC.

About the role:

In this leadership role, you will drive the strategic and operational performance of a unit focused on delivering technical services and solutions to our organisation. You will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle management of operational functions provided by the teams. This includes the lifecycle planning, future development and sustainment of these systems.

You will work closely with other managers within the Directorate to meet business requirements for engineering systems and capabilities within the Branch.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across your unit
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and client service
  • Oversee resource planning, budgeting and performance management to ensure aligns with unit objectives
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, build capability and drive engagement
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiencies
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to support enterprise-wide initiatives

About you:

You are someone who can steer a dynamic team spread across multiple locations keeping things connected, and running like clockwork.

As a strategic leader you will bring a passion for operational excellent, service delivery, and mission-driven outcomes to lead a high-performing team responsible for delivering critical enterprise that support the core mission.

You will have:

  • Experience leading and managing engineering teams
  • Strong technology background, including technical leadership
  • Risk management experience, particularly as it relates to complex technology platforms
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Initiative, drive and a commitment to developing engineering processes and practices
  • Proven experience developing high quality, engineering service delivery cultures in teams and units
  • Experience overseeing operations/teams in more than one geographic location (desirable but not essential)

The appointing range for this role is between $168,953 - $180,217 per annum

You must:

  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
