Clendon House – Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga
We're looking for a warm, organised, and enthusiastic person to join our team at Clendon House as a Visitor Host and Office Administrator. This is a permanent, part-time role (19.5 hours per week), working Friday to Sunday.
Clendon House is a significant heritage site in Rawene, cared for by Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga. As a Visitor Host, you'll help bring the stories of this special place to life. As an Office Administrator, you'll help keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
What the role involves:
- Welcoming visitors and delivering engaging guided tours
- Opening and preparing the house for the day
- Managing entry fees and daily financial records
- General office administration and reporting
- Weekly cleaning and light collection care
- Creating engaging social media content to promote the site
- Supporting occasional weekday events and group bookings (especially in summer)
We're looking for someone who:
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills
- Enjoys speaking to groups and sharing stories
- Has a passion for history and heritage
- Works well independently and as part of a small, friendly team
- Is confident using Windows-based systems and digital tools
- Can manage financial records and reporting with accuracy
- Has an understanding of tikanga Māori and a willingness to use or learn basic te reo Māori
- Is imaginative, proactive, and respectful of heritage values
Hours & Flexibility:
- Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 6.5 hours per day (19.5 hours/week)
- Additional hours may be available during the summer season for events and group tours
