Highwic & Ewelme Cottage - Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland - Permanent Part Time
Are you passionate about promoting the culture and historic places of Aotearoa New Zealand?
Are you dedicated to creating meaningful events related to our nation's diverse heritage?
Are you keen to preserve iconic properties and important collections for future generations?
Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga (HNZPT) is looking for a Visitor Services Coordinator (VSC) with a strong focus on educational programmes and visitor engagement. In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing the learning experiences of school groups, holiday programmes, and tour groups at two of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland's oldest heritage properties - Highwic in Newmarket, and Ewelme Cottage in Parnell. These heritage properties hold significant historical value and are deeply connected to both European and Māori heritage.
Based at Highwic, but with visits and work at Ewelme, the VSC reports to the Property Lead (PL) and will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of our educational initiatives. This includes coordinating school visits, school holiday programmes, and group tours that enrich visitors' understanding of our nation's heritage. You'll manage bookings, liaise with educational partners, and engage with other staff and our volunteers to enhance the visitor experience.
The ideal candidate will embrace the role of a kaitiaki, committed to preserving and sharing the history of these extraordinary sites. We seek someone with strong organisational skills and experience in educational programming, ideally within cultural or heritage settings.
Excellent communication skills in English are essential, and proficiency in Te Reo Māori or a desire to learn is a bonus. If you have a passion for education, a love for history, and a genuine interest in engaging people of all ages, this role is designed for you!
This is a part-time, permanent position 22.5 hrs p/week from Wednesday to Friday. It includes occasional work at weekends and evenings as needed and agreed in advance to support events, functions, and bookings.
The salary range for the position is $60,959-$71,717 FTE
Applications for this role close at 5pm on Wednesday 21 May 2025
