About the Role
We are pleased to welcome applications for a Whānau Support Worker to join our Infant Maternal Mental Health team within Community Mental Health & Addiction Services at Gisborne Hospital.
In this role, you’ll work closely with our Registered Nurse and Peer Support Worker to provide compassionate, culturally responsive support to whaiora and their whānau. You’ll also collaborate with key partners such as the Tairāwhiti Maternity Unit, Midwives, Plunket, Mama Pēpē services, and other agencies supporting perinatal whānau and babies from birth to 12 months.
Your mahi will help ensure seamless, integrated care for whānau during one of the most important times in their lives.

Our services span community mental health and addictions, the inpatient unit, acute services, and ICAMHS. We work together to deliver holistic, wrap-around support that upholds the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and responds to the needs of our community.

About you
· Dedication in delivering culturally appropriate support.
· Ability to manage complex situations while maintaining a compassionate and whanau-centered approach.
. Willing to follow direction and guidance from the team
. Reliability and good time management skills are essential
· Applicants must have a full and current drivers licence.
· Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
· Experience in projects/initiatives, which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
